New Zealand: Mask

New Zealand: Mask

- A cricketer in New Zealand who bowls wearing a mask says it is "only a matter of time" before cricket introduces more protection for bowlers.

- Otago Volts pace bowler Warren Barnes started using the custom-made mask in December after a "lot of close calls" during net sessions and matches.

- Barnes, 25, said New Zealand Cricket is interested in the concept.

- "Especially in Twenty20, cricket authorities have looked at getting a much protection for the players as possible," Barnes told Stumped on BBC World Service.

- Barnes said "there is no better time" to look into protective headgear for bowlers.
